IBM Power10
Also known as: Power 10
IBM's previous generation Power Systems hardware, introduced in 2021. Power10 introduced the Matrix Math Accelerator (MMA) for AI workloads and enhanced memory bandwidth.
IBM Power10 is the previous generation of IBM Power Systems hardware, introduced in 2021. Built on a 7nm process, Power10 delivered significant improvements over Power9 including a new processor core design, the Matrix Math Accelerator (MMA) for AI and machine learning workloads, improved memory bandwidth with DDR5 support, and Memory Inception technology enabling shared memory across multiple systems. Power10 models included the S1022 and S1024 scale-out systems and enterprise E1050 and E1080 systems. Power10 is still in active IBM support, but new systems are now being built on Power11 hardware. Organizations running Power10 hardware should evaluate the upgrade timeline based on their lease terms, workload growth, and support lifecycle. IBM Power10 fully supports IBM i 7.5, AIX, and Linux workloads. For organizations planning AS400 upgrades from Power9 or earlier hardware, Power10 was the previous recommended destination; Power11 is now preferred for new deployments.
