IBM FlashSystem

IBM FlashSystem is IBM's family of all-flash and hybrid enterprise storage arrays, running Storage Virtualize software and typically populated with FlashCore Module NVMe drives. FlashSystem arrays attach to a Power server, including AS400/IBM i partitions, over Fibre Channel SAN through a supported host adapter, making them an external storage option once internal DASD capacity or performance is exhausted, or when a business is consolidating storage across platforms during a modernization project. Evaluating FlashSystem storage is a common step alongside an AS400 to Power11 upgrade or a broader infrastructure refresh, since the SAN attachment adapter and the array configuration both need to be sized into the same project.
