AIX Server

An AIX server is IBM Power hardware running IBM AIX, the UNIX operating system used for enterprise applications and databases.

An AIX server is an IBM Power system running AIX, IBM's UNIX operating system. AIX workloads often support enterprise databases, ERP systems, financial applications, and other UNIX applications.

When evaluating an AIX server, work through each of these:

  • Operating system version
  • Application support
  • Processor and memory sizing
  • LPAR design
  • Storage
  • Backup
  • High availability
  • Maintenance coverage
