<p>The IBM 6593-9406 iSeries 4-Disk Slot Expansion provides an enclosure that can contain up to 4 Ultra320 SCSI disk drives for 9406 Systems. The IBM 6593 is driven by a disk controller in a PCI slot of the iSeries 9406 system unit, requiring either a 5715 PCI-X Tape/DASD Controller or 5703 PCI-X RAID Disk Unit Ctlr. The 6593 cannot be controlled by the integrated base disk controller or by a 5709 disk controller. The IBM 6593 repositions the SCSI cable connector so that a long card can be placed in card slot 4 of the iSeries and forces card slot 5 to be a short card. The 6593 can be used for disk mirroring protection.</p>
<p>When IBM 6593 is in a Power AIX system, it requires a 5712 PCI-X Dual Channel Ultra320 SCSI Adaptor, 5703 PCI-X Dual Channel Ultra320 SCSI RAID Adapter, 4267 or 4274 PCI-X adapter to hot-swap disk enclosure cable. </p>
<p>The IBM 6593 is only available in used/refurbished condition as of 2009.</p>
